Should B2B companies run Black Friday offers in 2026?

TL;DR

  • Black Friday falls on 27 November 2026 and Cyber Monday on 30 November. Paddle's data shows software sellers that discount get about 7 times their usual orders and about 6 times their usual revenue.

  • It works best for self-serve SaaS with low contract values, card checkout and an annual plan to upgrade people into. Paddle finds 30% to 40% the best-performing discount.

  • It hurts when deals run through sales and procurement: Forrester says procurement is a decision-maker in 53% of buying cycles, and ProfitWell data found aggressive discounters had over 30% lower lifetime value.

  • The safest offers protect list price: annual-plan discounts, extended trials, bonus credits and bundles, with a hard expiry date.

Yes, if you sell self-serve software at a low contract value, and usually no if you sell through a sales team to enterprise buyers. A Black Friday offer can pull a month of signups into one weekend and move monthly customers onto annual plans, but the same discount can teach buyers to wait for a deal and cut lifetime value. This guide covers the evidence on both sides, a decision framework, the offer types that protect your price, and a November 2026 timeline.

Black Friday 2026 dates and how big the weekend is

Thanksgiving in the US falls on Thursday 26 November 2026, Black Friday on Friday 27 November and Cyber Monday on Monday 30 November. Most B2B and SaaS offers run from Black Friday through Cyber Monday, often with an early-access window the week before.

The weekend is still mostly a consumer event. Adobe's 2026 holiday forecast, published 28 September 2026, expects US shoppers to spend $12.9 billion online on Black Friday (up 9.2%) and $15.1 billion on Cyber Monday (up 6.2%), with $47.5 billion across Cyber Week. Adobe expects discounts of up to 30% off list price during Cyber Week. That matters for B2B because your buyers are also consumers that week: their inboxes are full of offers, and deals around 30% are what they will compare yours against.

Software is a smaller, uneven part of that spend. In 2021, Paddle reported that its 2,000+ software sellers saw an average uplift of only 3.5% in gross merchandise value over Black Friday, while some large sellers saw uplifts above 4,000%, per Paddle's Black Friday review. The average discount was 40%. The results depend heavily on what you sell and to whom.

When a B2B Black Friday offer works

Black Friday works for B2B companies whose buyers can say yes on their own. Paddle's Black Friday guide for SaaS says software sellers running a discount see "7x the amount of orders, leading to around 6x the typical revenue," with sales peaking on Cyber Monday at 10am UTC.

The conditions that make that possible:

  • Self-serve checkout. The buyer can pay by card without a call, a quote or a purchase order. Gartner found in 2026 that 67% of B2B buyers prefer a rep-free experience, per its March 2026 release, and 70% prefer a completely digital, self-service buying experience, per its May 2026 survey release.

  • A low contract value. If one person can expense it, a time-limited offer can tip the decision. If it needs a budget owner and a vendor review, the offer will expire before the approval does.

  • An annual plan to move people into. The best use of the weekend is often not new logos but monthly customers switching to annual. In Paddle's example, the learning platform Kodeco ran a 45% discount and saw a 960% increase in transactions and 500+ upgrades to annual subscriptions.

  • A market that already expects it. If competitors in your category run deals every year, buyers will look for yours, and staying silent can look like a missed chance.

For most self-serve SaaS, Paddle finds "the best performing Black Friday discount is between 30% and 40%," and suggests 10% to 20% for any pre-Black Friday early access.

When it hurts

The case against Black Friday is strongest for sales-led B2B, and the damage shows up after the weekend, not during it.

Lower lifetime value. Paddle's analysis of ProfitWell data, published in 2022, compared 55 companies that discount minimally with 33 that discount aggressively and found the aggressive group's customer lifetime value was 32.41% lower on average, with higher churn. Its worked example shows a 20% discount on a $500-a-month customer with a $6,000 acquisition cost stretches payback from 12 months to 15, before any churn.

Anchoring. Once a buyer has seen your product at 40% off, the list price looks like the inflated one. That is a small problem for a $29 tool and a large one for a five-figure contract that renews every year. Discounted customers also expect the same deal at renewal.

Discount-trained buyers. If you run the same offer every year, prospects learn to wait for it, and signups in the weeks before the offer drop.

It does not fit how enterprise deals close. Forrester's State of Business Buying 2026 found the typical decision involves 13 internal stakeholders and nine external influencers, and procurement is a decision-maker in 53% of buying cycles. A four-day offer cannot move a deal that needs that many people. Worse, it signals that your price is negotiable to the procurement team you will face later.

McKinsey's research on SaaS discounting found the same trade-off at contract level, in an older but still relevant benchmark of 30 companies: those discounting 30% or more off list grew customer numbers faster, 50% a year against 25% for companies discounting 10% to 30%, but grew recurring revenue per customer at half the rate.

Decision framework: run it, narrow it or skip it

The decision comes down to how your customers buy. If one person can buy with a card in one sitting, run a full offer. If a sales rep is involved but contracts are small, run a narrow version for existing customers. If procurement signs the contract, skip the discount and use the attention for something else.

B2B Black Friday offers 2026 decision framework, run it for self-serve SaaS, narrow it or skip it for enterprise

Figure: a decision framework for B2B Black Friday offers, GROU framework based on the sources in this guide.

  • Run it: self-serve SaaS, low monthly price, card checkout, a free trial or freemium plan, and a monthly-to-annual upgrade path. Target both new signups and existing monthly customers.

  • Narrow it: sales-assisted products with small or mid-sized contracts. Limit the offer to existing customers, annual upgrades or add-ons, and keep list price untouched on the website.

  • Skip it: enterprise deals, multi-year contracts, sales cycles longer than a quarter, or a category where your price is part of your positioning. Use the week for customer marketing or year-end budget conversations instead. Our guide to sales cycle length shows how long typical B2B deals take.

If you sell to companies with a calendar fiscal year, late November is also when budget owners look at what they have left to spend. That is a better reason to reach out than a discount: help them use the budget before 31 December.

The offer types that protect your price

A straight percentage off list price is the easiest offer to run and the one that does the most damage to your price. These alternatives give buyers a reason to act while keeping list price intact.

B2B Black Friday offer types 2026 table, annual-plan discount, extended trial, bonus credits and bundles

Figure: B2B Black Friday offer types, what each suits and the guardrail to set, GROU summary.

  • Annual-plan discount. Discount the first year of an annual plan, not the monthly price. You collect cash up front, and an annual customer cannot churn for 12 months. Paddle recommends treating upgrades as a core offer.

  • Extended trial. Offer a 30- or 60-day trial instead of a discount. Forrester found more than 60% of business buyers now use a trial, so a longer one meets them where they already are. Pair it with a strong trial onboarding sequence.

  • Bonus credits or usage. For credit-based or usage-based products, add extra credits, seats or volume rather than cutting price. The price per unit on your pricing page stays the same.

  • Bundles and add-ons. Include an add-on or a higher tier for the price of the lower one for the first year. Buyers get more, and your list price does not move.

  • Existing-customer offers. Give current customers early access or an upgrade deal before the public offer. Paddle suggests a preview sale for loyal customers at a smaller discount.

  • Services instead of discount. For sales-led products, offer free onboarding, a setup workshop or extra training if the contract signs by a date. It has a real cost to you but no effect on your price.

Whatever the offer, set an expiry date and a usage limit, archive the temporary price afterwards, and state renewal terms clearly. Paddle's guide lists the same post-sale hygiene. Our guide to B2B SaaS pricing strategy covers how to fit an offer around your pricing model.

Your November 2026 timeline

A Black Friday offer needs about four weeks of preparation. The timeline below starts with the decision on 2 November and ends with measuring the cohort in the first quarter of 2027.

B2B Black Friday offers 2026 November timeline, decide by 2 November, Black Friday 27 November, Cyber Monday 30 November

Figure: a November 2026 timeline for a B2B Black Friday offer, dates from the 2026 calendar and Adobe's forecast, steps by GROU.

  • By 2 November: decide run, narrow or skip using the framework above, and agree the offer type and limit with finance.

  • By 9 November: finalise terms: eligible plans, expiry date and time zone, renewal price, and whether existing customers qualify.

  • From 16 November: tell your list and existing customers what is coming. Paddle found sellers who ran a campaign of about two weeks saw a real increase in annual revenue.

  • 23 to 25 November: early access for customers and newsletter subscribers at a smaller discount.

  • 27 to 30 November: the public offer from Black Friday to Cyber Monday. Expect the peak on Monday.

  • 1 to 4 December: close the offer on the stated date. Extending it trains buyers to ignore your deadlines.

  • January to March 2027: compare the Black Friday cohort with your normal signups on retention, upgrades and payback, using a subscription analytics tool such as Baremetrics or ChartMogul.

For promotion, reuse what already works: email to customers and trial users, LinkedIn posts from founders and the team, and retargeting of pricing-page visitors. Our B2B customer marketing email playbook covers the customer side.

How to measure whether it worked

Revenue on the weekend is the wrong scorecard. Judge the offer on the cohort it brought in:

  • Annual share. How many buyers chose annual, and how many monthly customers upgraded.

  • Retention at 3 and 12 months. Compare churn of Black Friday signups with the same months' normal signups.

  • Payback. Recalculate customer acquisition cost payback at the discounted price. Our SaaS customer acquisition cost guide covers the formula.

  • Renewal price. Track how many discounted customers renew at full price. If most churn at renewal, the offer bought revenue you could not keep.

  • Cannibalisation. Check whether signups dropped in the two weeks before the offer. If they did, buyers were waiting for it.

FAQ

Do B2B companies do Black Friday?

Some do, mostly self-serve SaaS and other products bought by card. It is rare for enterprise software sold through sales teams and procurement. Paddle reports software sellers that discount see about 7 times their usual orders.

When is Black Friday 2026?

Black Friday is on Friday 27 November 2026, after US Thanksgiving on Thursday 26 November. Cyber Monday is on Monday 30 November 2026.

What is a good Black Friday discount for SaaS?

Paddle's data finds the best-performing Black Friday discount for software is between 30% and 40%, with 10% to 20% for early-access offers before Black Friday. Applying it to annual plans rather than monthly prices protects more revenue.

Do Black Friday discounts increase churn?

They can. ProfitWell data analysed by Paddle found companies that discount aggressively had 32.41% lower customer lifetime value than minimal discounters, with higher churn. Annual-plan offers and clear renewal terms reduce the risk.

What can I offer instead of a discount?

An annual-plan discount, an extended trial, bonus credits or seats, a bundled add-on, or free onboarding and training. These give buyers a reason to act now without cutting your list price.

Should enterprise software companies run Black Friday offers?

Usually not. Enterprise decisions involve many stakeholders and often procurement, so a four-day offer rarely changes the outcome and can weaken your position in later price negotiations. Year-end budget conversations are a better use of late November.

Bottom line

Black Friday is a real lever for B2B companies whose buyers can purchase alone, quickly and by card. For them, a 30% to 40% offer on annual plans, with a hard expiry and clean renewal terms, can bring a month of signups into one weekend. For sales-led and enterprise B2B, the same discount mostly lowers lifetime value and teaches buyers to wait. Decide by how your customers buy, protect list price with annual, trial, credit or bundle offers, and judge the result on the cohort, not the weekend.
